8U Hockey / Mites Program
The Cincinnati Jr Cyclones 8U Mites Program is designed for young players who are ready to continue developing after Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey.
This program focuses on skill development, skating, puck touches, teamwork, confidence, and game understanding in a fun, structured environment. Players will continue learning the fundamentals of hockey while beginning to experience team placement, practices, and age-appropriate game play.
Ready to Get Started?
Before registering, players should have completed or be actively participating in Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey, or have been evaluated by the Jr Cyclones staff.
All players must also complete a USA Hockey registration before participating.
Step 1: Register with USA Hockey
Step 2: Complete the Jr Cyclones 8U Mites registration
Step 3: Attend placement/evaluation skate
Step 4: Players are placed on teams and final fees/payment plans are assigned
What Players Will Learn
- Skating fundamentals and edge control
- Puck handling, passing, and shooting
- Small-area games and hockey awareness
- Teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship
- Practice habits and basic game structure
- Continued development in a fun, supportive environment
Program Structure
The 8U Mites Program is built to help players transition from instructional hockey into a team environment.
Players can expect a combination of:
- Skill-based practices
- Team practices
- Small-area games
- Cross-ice game play
- Player evaluations and team placement
- Age-appropriate development focused on long-term growth
Team Placement & Fees
Players will register first so the Jr Cyclones staff can evaluate numbers, skill levels, and team placement needs.
Once players are placed on teams, final team fees will be set and families will receive payment information. Monthly payment plans may be available after team placement is complete. Fees will be $1,200 for House Team Players and $1,600 for Travel Team Players depending on team placement.

Kick Off Weekend
August 22 & 23
8u players will get to have fun skating and meet the coaches on our Hockey Kick Off Weekend.
Evaluations
August 31 from 6:00PM-7:00PM
Players will be evaluated to determine House vs Travel Team placement.
