Cincinnati Jr Cyclones Hockey

Requirements for all Coaches

Each and every individual who is on the bench and/or on the ice must obtain the following (links in section below):
USA Hockey Number (completed annually)
Register on SportsEngine as a coach, manager, or locker room monitor. (completed annually)

  1. Safe Sport training (completed annually)
  2. A valid Mid-Am District Screening - background check (completed bi-annually)
  3. Appropriate Age Module (you must complete each applicable module PRIOR to participating with your team or being placed on a roster for the current season)
  4. Ohio Concussion training (completed annually)
  5. Lindsay’s Law training (completed annually)
  6. Valid CEP Level (completed annually, by December 31 of the current season)*All certifications are automatically uploaded to your USA Hockey Account

*All certification numbers and documents must be uploaded to Microsoft Teams when
completed (see instructions at the end of this document)

Concussion Form

The USA Hockey return to play form is the only form that is acceptable for a Jr Cyclones to return to play. It must be submitted to the Jr. Cyclones Office and submitted to USA Hockey before the player can be on the ice or participate in team activities.

Requirements for all Managers, Volunteers, and Locker Room Monitors

  3. Safe Sport training (completed annually)

  6. Lindsay’s Law training (completed annually)

Requirement Links

1. USA Hockey Registration

USA HOCKEY # - You must register and obtain your USA Hockey Number before all
other requirements and you must register and obtain a new USA Hockey number every
season.

Steps:
1. Go to the USA Hockey Website USA Hockey Registration
2. Select “Become a Member” from the top right corner of the screen
3. Select Register Now
4. Select Player/Coach or Manager/Volunteer as applicable
5. Follow the Registration process
6. Once you complete the registration, save the confirmation page. You will need to register in SportsEngine with your number.
7. In addition, upload your Confirmation page in your applicable teams folder

2. LeagueApps Registration

Register as a Coach, Manager, or Locker Room Monitor on LeagueApps. You must create an account for yourself on LeagueApps if you don’t already have one. You may register for several positions or teams.

3. Safe Sport Training

SAFE SPORT TRAINING – Must be completed/renewed annually
Free to all who register
You will receive an email 30 days from expiration so that you can complete the training. For example, if you started coaching mid-season and completed your Safe Sport at that time, you
will have to re-new your certification mid-season.

2. Log in with your USA Hockey Number/Screen name and password
3. Complete the training
4. Indicate completed on the Coaches’ Certification Checklist and upload document into Microsoft Teams folder.

4. Background Check

BACKGROUND CHECK (MID-AM SCREENING): Must be completed bi-annually (every 2 seasons). You will need a digital copy of your driver's license, passport, or state ID.
The Fee is $30.
1. Click here to access the USAH Background check page: Background Screen (usahockey.com). If it asks for a number, use 35615801.
2. Complete the registration.
3. The background check typically takes up to 10 days to process, so get it done early!
4. You can rescreen up to 90 days prior to the expiration of your current screening.
5. Indicate completed on the Coaches’ Certification Checklist in Microsoft. There is no document to upload.

5. Age Specific Coaching Modules

AGE-SPECIFIC MODULES: You must complete each module PRIOR to participating
with your team or being placed on a roster for the current season.
The fee is $10 per age module

3. Indicate completed on the Coaches’ Certification Checklist in Microsoft and upload any
documents.

6. CDC Heads Up Concussion Training

CDC CONCUSSION TRAINING:
Free to all participants

2. Indicate completed on the Coaches’ Certification Checklist in Microsoft Teams and
upload completed certification.

7. Lindsay's Law

LINDSAY’S LAW: Must be completed annually
Free to all participants
3 steps required for all coaches’:

At the current time, the Ohio Department of Health does not provide or require a certification of completion for coaches (there is a form for parents and players). We are working on a form for our coaches and managers.
4. Indicate completed on the Coaches’ Certification Checklist in Microsoft Teams

8. USA Hockey Coaching Education Clinics

USA HOCKEY COACHING EDUCATION PROGRAM (CEP): Your applicable clinic must be attended in person or via zoom by December 31 of each season.
The Fee varies depending on the level you register for.

3. You can register for any USA Hockey CEP course via your USA Hockey Coaching Portal Coaching Clinics (usahockey.com)

  • Select the coaching clinic that you want to attend and following the registration instructions.
  • Indicate completed on the Coaches’ Certification Checklist in Microsoft Teams and upload your certification of completion.

Unlike the other requirements listed above, a coach’s CEP clinic does not have to be completed to start a season. However, all coaches must complete their applicable clinic by December 31 of each season.
